Warm, calm and plain-English
How School Ready Guide looks and sounds. A small, consistent identity built to feel reassuring to a busy parent, five colours, two typefaces, and a friendly voice.
The wordmark
Keep “Ready” in navy on light backgrounds. Give the mark room to breathe, and never stretch or recolour it outside the palette below.
The five colours
OKLCH values are the source of truth (in the site’s theme file); hex is a quick approximation.

Voice & tone
Do
- Write in plain English, as if to a friend who is a parent, not a teacher.
- Address the adult (“help your child”), never instruct the child directly.
- Lead with what is free, and be honest about what is paid.
- Use amber and green for warmth and encouragement, navy for structure.
Don’t
- No jargon, no acronyms without a plain-English gloss.
- Never use em dashes. Use commas, brackets or full stops.
- Avoid “trusted / vetted / recommended” about people or services.
- Don’t pile on pressure, reward effort and progress, not perfection.
